Voting In Fonterra Elections Steady To Date
Voting for the Fonterra Director and Shareholders' Council elections is nearing the halfway point, with voting closing at midday on Wednesday 12 May 2004.
Returning Officer Warwick Lampp said that by last Friday (30 April) almost 20% of votes had been received, although he expects that figure to rise considerably in the next week or so.
"Voting has been steady to date but with this week's election roadshow and the closing deadline approaching I expect numbers to begin picking up," says Mr Lampp.
"All voters should have received their voter packs, including candidate videos, by now. Any shareholder who hasn't received a voting pack should contact me immediately for a replacement."
On-line secure voting is being used for the first time in the Director elections with Internet voting proving to be as popular fax votes to date according to Mr Lampp.
There are four candidates for the three available Directors positions with Malcolm Bailey joining the three sitting Directors Chairman Henry van der Heyden, Mark Townshend and Murray Flett retiring by rotation in line with Fonterra's constitution. The three Directors are elected by a nationwide vote of Fonterra shareholders.
