Young Entrepreneur to share international success story at Business Expo
Troy Hazard, former Director of International Marketing of the Young Entrepreneurs’ Organisation (YEO), is a keynote
speaker for the Microsoft Speaker Series at the Business Expo, 29 April – 1 May, 2004.
A specialist in marketing strategy and business development for small and medium-sized companies, Hazard will present a
one hour seminar on developing marketing strategies for small business, relationship marketing and developing a
marketing culture in your business.
YEO has over 4,500 members in 20 countries. The membership requirements put most of the workforce out of the running:
members must be under the age of 40 and be a founder, co-founder, owner or controlling shareholder of a business with
gross annual revenues exceeding (US) $1 million.
The founder of nine businesses over the last fifteen years and current director and shareholder of four companies, Troy
has presented marketing strategy techniques to hundreds of groups in 13 countries and is the author of the book “How to
get the Edge in Marketing Your Small Business”.
His client list includes Baskin Robbins, Subway, Goodyear, Eagle Boys Pizza, GJ and Gardner Homes.
Hazard is excited to be returning to New Zealand for a specialist small and medium-sized Business Expo.
“The dynamics of small companies are markedly different from corporates and while they face huge challenges in a
commercial environment, there are advantages that are unique to small business”, he says. “The key is to unlock these
points of difference.”
“Small businesses are limited in resources, but they can still maximize returns by building better relationships,
attracting new business through existing relationships and getting their team behind their marketing plan,” says Hazard.
Sarah Trotman, director of Spring Group Ltd and organizer of the Business Expo says marketing consistently ranks in the
top three most pressing concerns for business owners.
“The objective of the Microsoft Speaker Series is to offer business owners the best advice on key business areas
relating specifically to a business of their size, so it is great to be able to secure a speaker of this calibre who
will be able to offer advice on strategies which are within reach of most small businesses,” she says.
“The trusty old “but we have no marketing budget” line will become a much harder excuse to role out once business owners
have heard this presentation”, says Trotman.
Troy Hazard will speak from 1pm – 2pm on Friday, 30 April 2004 at the Microsoft Speaker Series during the Business Expo
2004. The Seminar Series is free with gate entry, $15, at The Auckland Showgrounds.
