Staff Response To North Shore Incident Congratulated Says Armourguard
Armourguard says Tuesday’s response to the noise complaint call-out was a standard response to such an incident. The
Company has congratulated the staff involved for the way they dealt with the matter.
Manager of Armourguard’s Noise Control services, Andy Davison says the officer involved did everything required,
including involving Police at the appropriate time.
“We have trained specialists working in the noise control area, and this incident was treated according to our usual
processes. We validate the complaint, endeavour to deal with the people involved to seek an amicable solution, and then
turn the matter over to the Police if the decision to seize the equipment is taken.”
Mr Davison, who was at the scene, says the role of a noise control officer requires strong judgment, the ability to read
difficult situations, and great tact in dealing with people.
Armourguard is contracted by all four Auckland Councils and provide the majority of such service throughout New Zealand.
There are approximately 200 dispatches around Auckland each week, but since January there have been only seven seizures
in the North Shore, which is good for all involved. Police have been involved in each of these incidents.
Armourguard’s Noise Control Officers undertake special training for their work and situations like that of yesterday.
“It is certainly not a job without risks, particularly when dealing with large groups and sometimes people who’ve had
too much to drink. In cases of potential trouble, the best course of action is to walk away and request the involvement
of Police.”
