Radio survey charts bFM’s growth
The release of an Auckland radio survey this week has shown significant increases in audience for 95bFM with much ground gained in the competitive Auckland radio market.
Findings from the Research International Auckland Survey 1-2004 include:
1. In its target market of 18 – 24 95bFM saw its share more than double with an increase from 2.4 % to 4.9% of the Auckland radio market.*
2. In the all 10+ category 95bFM saw an increase from 1.7% to 2.1%*
3. An increase in percentage of share was seen across all dayparts *
(“dayparts” refers to parts of day split into time zones)
4. A 49.3% increase in all 10+ weekly cumulative audience *
5. 74.1% increase in Breakfast audience *
6. 109.2% increase in evening audience *
95bFM General Manager Mr Aaron Carson says the results are good news not only for the station, but as a recognition that homegrown art and culture was on the rise.
“We've been doing our own thing for 35 years, getting excited about the vibrancy and creativity of NZ culture – so in that respect not much has changed. It is always positive though when more people can experience what 95bFM has to offer.”
Mr Carson attributed bFM’s surge in popularity to its source of new local talent be it musical or otherwise.
“Many of today’s best broadcasters started here,” he said. “95bFM is Auckland’s source of new music, ideas and talent. It’s my personal mission to ensure that as many people as possible can experience this truly unique station – and that’s what we’ve been focusing on. Evidentally, it’s working”
