Hon. Jim McLay appointed Chairman of Just Water
The directors of Just Water International Ltd today announced the appointment of Hon. Jim McLay, CNZM, QSO, LLB, as Chairman.
Just Water International is a leading supplier of bottled drinking-water to offices throughout the country through its Just Water, Cool Water and Corporate Water Brands divisions.
The appointment
Jim McLay originally practised as a barrister and became a Member of the New Zealand Parliament in 1975. Until his retirement from politics in 1987 he held, at various times, the positions of Attorney General, Minister of Justice, Deputy Prime Minister, and on a change of Government, Leader of the Opposition.
Jim McLay’s other corporate appointments include:
Executive Chairman of Macquarie New Zealand Limited
Principal and Managing Director of JK McLay Limited, business consultants
Chairman of Pharmacybrands Limited (owner of the Unichem, AMCAL, Dispensary First and Life pharmacy brands)
Chairman of publicly-listed Macquarie Goodman (NZ) Limited.
He was previously the New Zealand Commissioner on the International Whaling Commission. He has served as an adviser to the New Zealand Government in reviews of the wholesale electricity market, defence funding and financial management, accident compensation, and roading reform.
The company
Just Water International Ltd markets drinking-water products to corporate clients in New Zealand, and is currently exploring new opportunities nationally and internationally.
Just Water sees its future as a significant provider in the drinking-water market, a high growth segment of the beverage industry.
Bottled drinking-water has been an international growth phenomenon, and while the New Zealand market has grown rapidly over the past 10-15 years, the average water consumption per capita in New Zealand is still only one-fifth of the average water consumption in Australia*.
As a result, the company expects the New Zealand market to grow rapidly over the next few years.
