Countdown On To Opening Of New Skycity Hamilton Function Centre
SKYCITY Hamilton is counting down to the opening of its new full service function centre in two weeks time.
SKYCITY Hamilton General Manager Operations Phil Keber says that he is pleased with the progress to date and looks forward to welcoming the first clients.
“The fit out for the new centre is now in its final stages with just finishing touches to be made. Then we will be open for business, with our first booking confirmed for Friday April 16 - a function for ‘Balloons over Waikato.'
“Interest in the new function centre is growing rapidly as we approach the opening date with enquiries and bookings coming through steadily, for everything from conferences and product launches to themed events and private parties.
“Concurrent with the centre construction we are also expanding the Number Eight Bar service area. The development includes the addition of a new deck extending out from the bar and the gaming floor areas, which will offer the opportunity for customers to make the most of our prime riverbank location.
“This expansion ties in with SKYCITY’s commitment to constantly refresh and renew the experience we offer our customers,” says Mr Keber.
“It is exciting that our first customer for the new function centre should be ‘Balloons Over Waikato’ as this is one of the organisations supported by the SKYCITY Hamilton Community Trust in its inaugural funding round last year. This popular festival (14 – 18 April) draws many visitors to Hamilton and is a great community event which are we proud to support,” adds Mr Keber.
The conference and function facilities are being developed utilising space at ground level, beneath the existing SKYCITY Hamilton complex, with rooms overlooking a paved promenade along the riverbank.
The centre will consist of two function rooms that can be combined to cater for up to 240 people banquet style, 320 theatre style and 400 standing guests. It will include new catering facilities as well as utilising SKYCITY Hamilton’s restaurant kitchen.
Both rooms provide natural light with river views. The paved area overlooking the river provides a pleasant area for refreshment breaks during conferences, or for outdoor hospitality during fine weather.
Conference packages start from $37.50 per person per day (minimum of 30 delegates) including conference room hire, tea and coffee, morning and afternoon tea, lunch (at the Post Buffet Restaurant), equipment, $5.00 gaming voucher per delegate and discounted parking.
In addition SKYCITY Hamilton’s Function Centre will offer a range of breakfast, dinner and cocktails options for delegates.
