“New Generation” Executive Recruiters Launch Service
SABA Recruitment launches a “new generation” executive recruitment consultancy in Auckland this week.
The new SABA consultancy has been structured to offer a combination of workplace strategy, employment relations and executive recruitment skills.
“We saw a gap in the market,” says SABA founder Roxanne Saba. “The traditional executive recruiters’ approach doesn’t seem to be working too well for New Zealand business clients and management candidates.
“Our businesses want flexible, talented people who can contribute to their unique culture and character, as well as meet their technical requirements.
“The new generation of executive candidates is looking for positions that offer more flexible employment arrangements and a good fit with their own life-styles.
“You don’t get a good match through the traditional recruitment consultancy approach of simply by sorting out the suitably qualified candidates, running credentials checks, and administering a battery of standardised tests to grade them in terms of qualification to fill the slot.
“You need to take a multi-disciplinary approach that establishes the real requirements and expectations of both clients and candidates and then works out how to get a good fit that works for both parties,” Roxanne says.
With business partner Gavin Hazelden, Roxanne set out to fill the gap. They established SABA recruitment at the end of last year and their consultancy business was officially launched at a function in Auckland this week.
“We’re off to a great start,” says Gavin Hazelden. “With major changes being made to the employment environment this year, we’ve found there’s strong demand for a consultancy that can meet its clients’ total employment needs.”
SABA Recruitment has assembled a broad range of skills and experience to meet clients’ needs. They include business and workplace strategy, employment relations, organisational structure, effective recruitment processes and experience with more varied and flexible conditions of employment and forms of remuneration and reward.
Roxanne Saba is a Bachelor of Commerce graduate of the University of Auckland with a major in Management and Employment Relations. Since 1995, she has worked as a human resources consultant to Ergo Personal Financial Services, Air New Zealand, ANZ Banking Group (NZ), Compaq Computers (NZ), McDonalds Systems of NZ, and the Gullivers Pacific Group. She has been a part-time tutor in the Department of Management and Employment at the University of Auckland and in the Faculty of Commerce, Management and Employment Relations at the Auckland University of Technology.
SABA recruitment partner Gavin Hazelden graduated Master of Business Administration from Massey University and holds a Diploma of Business (Operations and Management) from the University of Auckland. He held a number of management positions during a nine-year term at Air New Zealand. Subsequently, he was commercial manager at Sabre Pacific managing Australian and New Zealand business activities, a senior recruiter for TMP Worldwide, specialising in IT sector management and sales management, and General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Origin Pacific Airways.
