Revolutionary system will handle substantial number of fixed-line calls in the Netherlands
The Netherlands largest telecommunications company and eServGlobal Limited (ASX: ESV), a worldwide supplier of independent and flexible Intelligent Network systems, today announced that KPN has contracted eServGlobal for the supply and deployment of the 4GaIN (4th Generation all IN) system, which will manage the majority of calls for KPNs fixed-line network.
Frank Dedobbeleer, VP Europe of eServGlobal said, The 4GaIN project is one of the larger Intelligent Network deployments in the world, this enterprise-critical system will be relied upon to handle most of the fixed-line calls in the nation of 16 million people.
An eServGlobal customer since 1997, KPN earlier selected eServGlobal for a Carrier Pre-Selection solution deployed in 2002. As with the 4GaIN project, the CPS project itself replaced an existing platform with a new eServGlobal solution on non-proprietary hardware and was deployed against stringent timescales.
The smooth service migration, reliability and significantly lowered Opex and Capex resulting from that project convinced KPN of the attractiveness and viability of undergoing a complete IN replacement project, said Paul Hendriks, KPN Netherlands VP Operations Voice Services. In addition to the operational cost savings, the planned IN solution needed to demonstrate that it addressed our requirements for future services and had the scalability and reliability required.
Patrick McGrory, Chief Executive Officer of eServGlobal said, This contract demonstrates eServGlobals leadership in next-generation network intelligence, delivering the benefits of open standards and high performance, whilst fully meeting KPNs technical and commercial requirements, platform and service migration objectives and project timescales
eServGlobal system will provide services for Number Portability, Service Number Portability, Carrier Pre-Selection and Call Completion Busy Subscriber. It includes the deployment of Sigtran technology, an area where eServGlobal leads the world and which provides far more efficient use of the signalling network.
Patrick McGrory also said, 'A further benefit of the eServGlobal solution is its capability for integration with other network elements. This will allow KPN to introduce new services with minimal disruption and allow the eServGlobal solution to provide control over other platforms using many different interfacing protocols.'
Paul Hendriks of KPN concludes, 'The eServGlobal IN will become an important network element, responsible for the successful delivery of voice calls on KPNs Network. KPN and eServGlobal have developed a close working partnership that has proven successful on previous projects. We are confident that with this contract eServGlobal will meet our objectives and requirements in the future.'
