Coach Week highlights the growth of Life and Business Coaching in New Zealand
The professional organisation behind the fast growing Life and Business Coaching trend in New Zealand is celebrating
International Coach Week (March 15 – 19) to build, support and promote professional coaching.
More than 80 coaches are operating in Auckland, acting as sounding boards, mentors and motivators for their clients.
They help clients with issues such as solving business problems, tackling career transitions or working through personal
situations.
Life coach and spokesperson for the Auckland chapter of the International Coach Federation, Linda Matuscha, says,
“Typically coaching clients are well educated and motivated professionals who want to either achieve even more in their
business lives or find a better balance in their personal lives. Personal development, goal setting and time management
are often areas we are dealing with.”
US based research shows the general profile of coaching clients is a professional with a university degree who looks to
their coach to be motivator, mentor, sounding board and business consultant.
Linda says, “Coaching is now a high profile service industry in New Zealand which has grown enormously in the past five
years. Essentially it’s about professional coaches coaching professionals.”
To mark Coaching Week, Auckland life and business coaches are donating 60 hours of free coaching time to 20 Auckland
primary and intermediate school Principals to allow them to take time out to focus on career and personal development
issues. The Principals Association will select the participants who will be asked to evaluate the benefits of the
sessions. The Auckland chapter of the International Coach Federation will also launch an inaugural newsletter and host a
networking evening for professional coaches.
