Niro A/S applies for clearance to acquire Colby Systems
The Commerce Commission has received an application from Niro A/S, to acquire 100 percent of the shares of Colby Systems Limited from Siemens Dematic AG.
The acquisition is part of the global acquisition by Niro of the Colby Powder Systems group from Siemens Dematic AG. The Colby Powder Systems group has offices based in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the United States. Its major focus is the supply of equipment and integrated systems for handling and packing a broad range of powdered products.
In New Zealand, Niro is represented by Niro (NZ) Limited and Avalon Engineering Limited, which operates under the brand name AVAPAC.
Avalon Engineering and Colby Systems both design, engineer and supply systems for packing a wide range of food, dairy and pharmaceutical powders into industrial sized (10 – 25kg) bags.
In considering the application, the Commission’s role is to determine whether the merger has the effect of substantially lessening competition in a market.
A public version of the application will shortly be available on the Commission’s website, under the Adjudication section.
