Industry Leaders To Sign On To Roadshare
For immediate release
26 February 2004
Key players in the utilities sector and local government will be attending a ceremony hosted by the Minister of Transport to mark the signing of the New Zealand Utilities Advisory Group’s (NZUAG) Charter of Understanding at the Grand Hall, Parliament Buildings on 3 March 2004 at 5:30pm.
The charter records the commitment of key players in the gas, telecommunication, electricity, water supply and waste water industries along with major metropolitan councils and Transit New Zealand and industry bodies to work together in the road for the benefit of their customers, road users and communities.
This event launches RoadShare, an initiative by NZUAG to improve the management of utilities working in the road. One of the outcomes of the project is to reduce the disruption to road users caused by road works by improving the coordination of utility operators accessing the road.
NZUAG is a joint consultative group that represents utility service providers and road controlling authorities. Over the last two years it has produced tools and best practice guidelines for many aspects of managing utilities in the roading corridor with the aim of achieving national consistency. These are delivered under the name RoadShare.
