NGC contributes $50,000 to flood relief
NGC chief executive Phil James announced today that the company was making a $50,000.00 contribution to the mayors of
Napier and Hastings to distribute for humanitarian purposes to victims of last week's flood disaster.
Mr James said the two mayors, with the backing of their respective Councils, had decided the donation would be sent
directly to the people in the neighbouring region of Manawatu into their Regional Disaster Relief Fund for distribution
to flood victims.
NGC's donation to the Hawke's Bay mayors reflected the company's relationship with the region and the disruption to gas
supplies and losses customers had suffered during the flood crisis.
Mr James said he applauded the mayors' decision to help those worst hit by the disaster.
"We're very pleased with the decision of Mayor Barbara Arnott and Mayor Lawrence Yule to donate the funds to flood
victims in the Manawatu region.
"Last week I saw some of the devastation in the area first hand, and while I acknowledge that people in the Hawke's Bay
region have also suffered losses, they pale in comparison to the catastrophe facing many people in the Manawatu.
"We are grateful to the mayors for their support and would like to thank the people of the Hawke's Bay for their
patience during the gas disruption last week. NGC looks forward to its continuing association with the Hawke's Bay
community," said Mr James.
