[Whangarei]- Local Whangarei and Kaipara Line Company, Northpower is giving a $6 million dollar “Northpower line
charge holiday” to all customers connected to it lines as at midnight 17th February 2004.
The majority of all Northpower Network customers (who use between 2,000 – 15,000 units per annum) will get a credit of
$120 on their electricity account. Small users (less than 2000 units per annum) will receive $50. Large users (greater
than 15000 units per annum) will receive $195.
All electricity customers in Northpower’s area will get the Northpower line charge holiday regardless of who their
Electricity Retailer is.
The line charge holiday will appear on the customer’s electricity account that includes the 20th of February 2004 as
part of the billing period.
Northpower Chairman Warren Moyes said Northpower’s line charges are some of the lowest in New Zealand, with a
reliability figure (172 minutes per year without supply per customer) better than the New Zealand Average (183 minutes).
The Line and Contracting businesses continue to perform successfully and the company is well placed to give this amount
to their Network customers.
Customers connected to Northpower’s lines will save a total of $6 Million on their electricity charges. This amount is
what Northpower would have expected to receive for maintaining and operating the lines, transformers, and poles for
nearly two and a half months. Included in this amount, Northpower is also passing back a half a million dollar industry
rebate to customers.
Mr Moyes said that the success of Northpower is closely tied to the growth and prosperity of Northland. Northpower can
do its best for customers and Northland by providing electricity line services that are safe and reliable. Furthermore
the line charge holiday is one way Northpower can reduce your year’s electricity charges.
