MYOB - Business Management Solutions
MYOB New Zealand Limited (MYOB) is one of the country’s leading providers of business management software, designed specifically for New Zealand’s small businesses and accounting practices.
The company is part of the MYOB Group, owned by MYOB Limited, a public company listed on the Australian stock exchange. The MYOB Group is a global business, with operations in New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, the US and UK, and an international network of licensed distributors.
The MYOB Group develops and distributes its range of software solutions to over 400,000 business and accounting clients worldwide. The high quality of each product has meant that the company’s software has garnered more awards, in more countries, than any other accounting programme.
Focussing on products that provide greater financial control, simplified business management and accurate reporting and information for small- to medium-sized enterprises, the MYOB Group tailors its software to the unique legislative and business environment of each country it operates in.
The company also works in partnership with accountants, providing a range of software designed specifically for accounting practices, automating processes, managing information and increasing communication with clients.
Although a global enterprise, each nationally-based MYOB company operates as an individual small business, maintaining its focus on the local business environment and the requirements of the sector.
Each MYOB product supplied in New Zealand has been developed to meet the local needs of the small business owner, with easy-to-use solutions that can be upgraded from simple cash-book and payroll functions to full-featured accounting programmes.
MYOB also offers comprehensive on-line and telephone support, as well as training programmes, specialist technical and business support, and business seminars, for both the accounting and small business sector. MYOB products are distributed throughout New Zealand by authorised consultants, resellers, retailers and in partnership with accounting practices.
History
The evolution of the MYOB Group began in 1982 with the development of a ground-breaking range of finance software products in the United States. The original elements of the Group were among the first developers to produce business management systems purpose-built for the small business.
In 1989 a small US developer, Teleware Inc, made the first release of MYOB Accounting for the Macintosh. The success of the product led to the development of MYOB Accounting for Windows in 1991, with the company winning a number of awards for the product on both platforms.
The MYOB Group, founded in 1991, acquired the Australian republishing rights to the product, modifying it extensively to meet the needs of the Australian market.
