Registered Master Builders 2004 House of the Year Raises the Bar
Gold, silver, and bronze mean more than sporting achievement this year as the Registered Master Builders 2004 House of
the Year and Commercial Awards open for entries with a new format for the nation’s premier event in the building and
construction industry.
Wellington Registered Master Builders Association President Michael Fox says the growing popularity and national
recognition of the competition has led to some key changes to the competition format.
“In a drive to reward and promote quality standards we have introduced some key changes in the awards structure, giving
registered master builders even more opportunity to be recognised for their building excellence. These changes will also
make it easier for homeowners to identify outstanding builders in their area by looking out for the Gold, Silver and
Bronze House of the Year quality marks,” says Michael Fox.
The Registered Master Builders 2004 House of the Year is now structured on two levels – local and national. Gold, Silver
or Bronze Awards are determined in 20 local competitions around New Zealand using a points-based system, with one
overall winner awarded in each category. All local Gold Award winners progress to the national competition where they
are judged by a new panel to determine national category winners and the 2004 Supreme Award. National winners are
announced at a gala event in Auckland on 25 September.
In its 14th year, a record number of entries are expected nationally, with the Wellington Registered Master Builders
Association preparing for even greater numbers than previous years, when entries officially close on March 22.
