the show and Business Correspondent Owen Poland continues his support presenter duties.
BREAKFAST also returns on Monday 19 January with a new presenter, Alison Mau. Mike Hosking will not return for 2004.
Bill Ralston says: “Ali’s style will add plenty of life to the show in the season, and this role gives her the chance to
greatly expand her considerable skills in interviewing.”
Peter Williams will read the Breakfast and Midday news.
ONE NEWS begins with Judy Bailey presenting in the single newsreader format from January 19. Neil Waka will read weekday
sport, with Kay Gregory and Karen Olsen anchoring the weather.
Bernadine Oliver-Kerby will present weekend news with Tony Veitch reading sport. Wayne Hay will continue in his role as
an additional sports anchor.
Wendy Petrie will also be joining the ONE NEWS and TONIGHT team as a supplementary newsreader.
The late news bulletin, TONIGHT, also has its debut on Monday 19 January. Hosted by Kate Hawkesby and Eric Young,
TONIGHT will provide a fresh late news programme that will also look at arts and entertainment.
Bill Ralston says 2004 will be an exciting time for News and Current Affairs. “These are the biggest changes to our news
line up for two decades. News and Current Affairs is going through a significant revamp designed to inject some
freshness into our product.”
