Expansion Opportunity Sees Harcourts Open in Fiji
13 October 2003
Australasia’s fastest growing real estate group, Harcourts, this week opened the doors of its first Fiji office as part of the expansion of its operation in the South Pacific.
Harcourts has close to 160 offices in New Zealand and recently boosted its office numbers in Australia to nearly 90 with the purchase of 18 offices in New South Wales last November making it the only major Australasian real estate company to have expanded from New Zealand. It is also believed to be the only major Australasian real estate company to now have an office in Fiji.
The Fiji office is owned and operated by Shivas Singh of Suva. Mr Singh has a close connection with New Zealand as he attended St Andrew’s College in Christchurch and also completed a Bachelor of Engineering (1st Class Hons) and Masters in Engineering at the University of Canterbury.
Mike Green, Managing Director of Harcourts International Ltd, said, “Shivas Singh is a highly respected businessman in Fiji, with a wide background in purchasing and developing property. He is young, dynamic, and very enthusiastic about the Harcourts brand and we are very excited to have such a business professional working in the Fiji market.”
Mr Singh’s Harcourts office will deal in a range of property from residential for Fijian locals through to resort properties for investors. Mr Green described Fiji as an increasingly popular destination for Australasians with fantastic property options, including investment homes that compared well with other waterfront locations in Australasia.
Mr Green added, “As the acknowledged market leader in New Zealand real estate and the fastest growing group in Australia, we achieved in excess of $8 billion in sales in the 12 months to the end of March this year. Our key strategy to maintain market leadership is to focus on growth, and we are continuing to explore a number of exciting opportunities internationally.”
