Sea-Through Kayak To Offer Window To Underwater Life
October 2003 sees an innovative and unique recreational Kayak to be launched on the New Zealand market. Clear Blue South Pacific introduces the Clear Blue Molokini, a transparent two-seater kayak designed to bring a new meaning to the term underwater exploration.
Created and produced in the USA by Clear Blue Hawaii, the Molokini adds a new dimension to boating on lakes, rivers or the ocean. This “floating aquarium” can reveal a beautiful mysterious underwater world usually hidden below the water’s surface, and enable the kayaker to enjoy a virtually unobstructed view of all the varied and abundant creatures of the undersea environment.
Designed to commercial grade standards, this transparent kayak hull is made moulded of the same hight tech, impact-resistant polymer used in the F15 fighter jet canopy, and is known for its resilience and superior clarity. The hull is stabilised by a removable tubular frame of T6-6061 anodised aluminium with 18-8 stainless steel hardware. It tracks well in the water with its moulded dual keel.
The Clear Blue Molokini’s hull is 3.4 m long and a big 81cm wide, so it displaces a lot of water creating a huge window on the world below. Nighttime kayaking is also possible by using waterproof lamps to obtain a sensational glimpse of nocturnal sea life!
