Gold Medal Winner Assists Habitat For Humanity As 'Women Build' Underway
New Zealand Commonwealth Games gold medal winner and Olympic cyclist, Sarah Ulmer, pitched in and lent a hand at the
Habitat for Humanity 'Women Build' today.
Sarah, participating as one of the Ford team volunteers, was still suffering jet lag after recently returning from a
European cycling campaign.
"It's fantastic to see the support that a project such as this receives," said Sarah during a motivational talk she gave
at the start of the day.
"I for one don't think you need a motivational talk at all – the fact that you are already here is an indication that
you believe in what you are doing, and have a strong desire to see this project finished."
To complete the project by the deadline of Saturday 27 September, as many as 30 volunteers are working on the site at
any one time – including a group of women who have flown in from the United States, and one woman from England.
"You are a very special group of people, especially those of you who have traveled from overseas to help build a house
in a country you might have never been to before," she added.

The mission of Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate substandard housing from the world one family at a time. Families
are selected to partner with Habitat for Humanity and provide 500 hours of 'sweat equity' into the building of their
house and the homes of others.
Families then pay back a no interest and no profit mortgage structured with affordable repayments, to become the owners
of their own home.
