Skycity Hamilton Celebrates Its First Year Achievements
Since opening in Hamilton City on 20 September 2002, SKYCITY Hamilton (formerly known as Sky Riverside) has become a popular entertainment destination with over 1,000,000 people through its doors to date.
SKYCITY Hamilton General Manager Operations Phil Keber said that the business has had a successful first year of operation and is proud of the level of community participation it has achieved through various sponsorships and events.
“We have had a very positive first year and in response to customer demand we have recently extended our opening hours and expanded our business with the addition of a VIP Gaming Room. We have also announced our further investment in the region with the development of a full-service conference centre, expected to open for business around April 2004.
“The SKYCITY Hamilton Community Trust will soon call for applications from local community groups to apply for funding for worthy projects.
“We are proud to partner the community through sponsorships including the Waikato Air New Zealand NPC Rugby Team, Chiefs Super 12 Rugby Team, the Gallagher Boathouse 8s The Great Race and NZ Opera (regional sponsor),” he said.
Lynda Keene, Chief Executive of Tourism Waikato is positive about SKYCITY Hamilton’s contribution as a new tourism draw-card for the region.
“In one year SKYCITY Hamilton has become a significant new partner to the local tourism industry contributing to a growth in visitor nights and helping to raise the city’s profile. “Its great to see a company investing in the region enthusiastically and actively marketing Waikato as a destination to local and international visitors,” said Ms Keene.
SKYCITY Hamilton will be celebrating its first year of operation with a variety of fun events and promotions over the 19th – 20th of September when the complex will be fully themed ‘party style’.
“Customers visiting SKYCITY Hamilton during this time will be offered a piece of Birthday cake, be in to win a luxury vehicle in the “Win this Car” Jackpot and every 20th customer will be given a chance to spin a special Prize Wheel. We will also be proving that there is such a thing as a “Free Lunch” with anybody who has their birthday* during the two days of our birthday celebrations receiving a complimentary buffet lunch in The Post Buffet Restaurant,” said Mr Keber. Party celebrations in the Number Eight Bar will include the debut of Thursday Night Live Entertainment on the 18th September featuring Auckland entertainment Duo Mark & Linda. Popular local band ‘Pulse’ will also play over the party weekend on the 19th and 20th of September from 9.30pm.
Ongoing promotions at SKYCITY Hamilton in September include “Wednesday Sweepstakes”, “Dine and Win Mondays” at The Post Buffet Restaurant and “Mystery Machine Mondays”.
