Air New Zealand Adds More Wow To Wow®!
Visitors to Nelson for this year’s spectacular Montana World of WearableArt™ Awards will experience a little extra Air New Zealand WOW factor when they arrive.
The airline, as a long-term sponsor of the awards known as WOW®, has a few surprises in store for travellers flying into Nelson over the two celebration weekends of September 12/13/14 and 19/20/21.
Air New Zealand crews and ground staff in Nelson will be getting into the swing of things with special welcomes to show-goers, both in-flight and at the airport where several flights will be greeted by the airline’s very own Wearable Art creation.
‘Lolly Dolly’ is made from more than 660 iconic Air New Zealand lollies and features a full skirt, pill box hat, shoes and jewellery. It is the brainchild of Auckland designer Tracey Smith, a two-time and current WOW® entrant, who is no stranger to working with confectionery – her 2002 entry was created using Roses chocolate wrappers.
Demonstrating the depth of its 12-year commitment to WOW®, Air New Zealand has for the first time this year laid on additional late flights from Nelson during the two show weekends to enable event-goers from out of town to fly home directly after the show.
In the 10 months since the launch of Express Class in November 2002, the number of people flying in and out of Nelson across all carriers increased dramatically, with an additional 86,000 passengers making the journey during that period.
Acting as one of the few sources of coveted WOW® tickets, Air New Zealand has marketed special packages to the event, bringing in visitors from around New Zealand.
As New Zealand’s largest private sector investor in tourism promotion abroad, Air New Zealand has long recognised the unique qualities of the Montana World of WearableArt Awards to generate media coverage of the breadth and depth of experiences that await travellers to New Zealand.
This year, Air New Zealand will continue its broader investment in helping lift WOW®’s profile abroad by working with Tourism New Zealand to target travel and lifestyle journalists from the key markets of the US, Australia, Asia and Germany to attend the event.
