Shell Urges Motorists to Fill Up at Current Fuel Price
Shell New Zealand said today it was reluctantly raising petrol and diesel prices, as a result of international market
movements, however, Shell is giving customers until 8pm tonight (Thursday) to fill up at prevailing prices.
"I would urge motorists to take advantage of this opportunity and fill up before we raise the price," Shell Retail
Manager Mark Nobilo said.
"We are making this decision based on international oil price and exchange rate movements. While the price of oil has
steadied after significant recent rises, the strong exchange rate, which had previously allowed Shell to maintain
prices, has declined to the extent that Shell must regrettably review prices.
'It is never easy to predict what will happen to prices going forward, however, Shell is committed to bringing New
Zealanders the best possible fuel prices, and we will continue to monitor the situation daily to ensure we honour that
commitment," Mr Nobilo said.
Prices in most main centres will rise by 2 cents for petrol and diesel, making 91 grade petrol 110.9 cents per litre, 96
grade petrol 115.9 cents per litre and diesel 63.9 cents per litre. Shell's wholesale price will increase at midnight
tonight (Thursday).
Areas currently enjoying discounting may see prices increase by more than 2 cents per litre.
