TSB Bank workers come in from the cold
"After twelve years in the employment wilderness the union group at TSB Bank has grown strong enough to initiate
bargaining for a collective employment agreement," said Geraldine Molloy, National Organiser for the bank workers'
union, Finsec.
"Under the Employment Contracts Act terms and conditions sank from some of the best in the finance sector to
some of the worst.
"In most areas of their terms and conditions they are now woefully behind employees in other major banks in New
Zealand.
"We are delighted that TSB management is now recognising the value to Taranaki, not only of their shareholders
but also of their employees, as the Taranaki community itself has done for many years.
"We look forward to the bank joining us in setting out a process for conducting bargaining in an effective and
efficient manner, as required by the Employment Relations Act.
"We congratulate the union members at the TSB who have worked hard for this moment in the knowledge that
together they can get a better deal," Ms Molloy concluded.
