Real Groove magazine reports strong readership results
Real Groove magazine readership is up 132% according to the latest National Readership Survey figures (July 02 — June
03) published by Nielsen Media Research.
The magazine’s readership has increased from 38,000 to 50,000 over the one year period. This increase is the strongest
result in the weekly, fortnightly and monthly publications.
“This solid growth is reflective of the magazine’s increased commitment to both local and international musicians and
artists. Real Groove is the only locally produced magazine devoted solely to music, film and popular culture
entertainment,” says editor John Russell.
“Last year we celebrated our tenth anniversary and an on-going commitment to providing New Zealanders with authoritative
and independent views on local and international artists, film and dvd, video games and technology,” says Russell.
The bi-monthly music publication RipItUp increased by 110% gaining an additional 9000 readers. Although their bi-monthly
readership stands at 95,000, Real Groove maintains a monthly readership of 50,000.
Russell notes: “The new readership figures certainly indicate that Real Groove, now into its second decade, is building
on its strong national reputation and is attracting a significant new audience to the fold.”
