TELECOM AND ZINTEL PARTNER FOR TOLL FREE SERVICES
Telecom has signed a three-year agreement with Zintel Communications Ltd for continued wholesale access to toll free 0800 services in New Zealand.
Telecom Commercial Manager Chris Dyhrberg said under the agreement, Zintel uses the Telecom network to provide toll free calls, while Zintel provides its own billing and call reporting features for business customers.
Zintel Managing Director Nick Gordon said toll free 0800 is a key component of companies’ service and marketing tool kits.
“When Zintel launched them in New Zealand 1995, 0800 WordNumbers were easy to remember but hard to dial as many phones had the alphanumeric letters on the wrong button, or had no alphabet on them at all. Now no one would be without the service, which accounts for about $150 million of telecommunications revenue in this country.”
Telecom has been a preferred provider of 0800 services to Zintel since 1996. Telecom introduced toll free 0800 numbers to New Zealanders in the late 1980s.
Zintel Communications specialises in toll free solutions in New Zealand and Australia. The company is also the sole Ericsson Enterprise importer and distributor in New Zealand, and employs over 100 staff.
