Fundraising Institute aims to promote best practice in the Charitable Sector
The Fundraising Institute of New Zealand (FINZ) has launched a new campaign that encourages Charitable organisations to
endorse ethics and best practice.
This is an extension of the commitment made by individual fundraising professionals to develop skills and knowledge, but
this move indicates a desire within the sector to ensure both charities and their fund raisers work to the same codes.
The package encourages organisations to sign up as a subscriber to the Code of Ethics produced by the Institute. This
binds member organisations to working within the ethical boundaries set out by the Institute for its individual members.
“The Institute has always been about best practice,” says Dianne Armstrong, FINZ National President. “and this is seen
as another way to strengthen the position of the not-for-profit by ensuring that accountability and integrity is always
a focus for fundraising projects.”
“Really, it’s a seal of approval,” says Mrs Armstrong. “A way that the public can see, at a glance, that the
organisations they wish to support, adhere to a code of ethics and undertake to be accountable and responsible with the
public money they receive.”
The Fundraising Institute currently has over 300 fundraiser members from all over New Zealand.
