Dairy farmer concern re Fonterra Constitution
Concern over the inadequacy of Fonterra's consultation with shareholders and the lack of choice for suppliers prompted
Dairy Farmers of New Zealand (DFNZ) to debate Fonterra's constitution at their National Conference in Wellington
yesterday.
The Council passed a remit that DFNZ works with the Fonterra Shareholders Council to reconsider the clauses in the
Fonterra constitution that relate to the terms and conditions of supply including the acquisition of shareholder
information from third parties.
"Dairy farmers need to feel confident that they have adequate protection and redress in keeping with co-operative
principles, says DFNZ Chair Kevin Wooding.
"Working alongside the Shareholders Council is the best way of ensuring Shareholder input."
