Is the mis-hiring, mis-firing, mis-management, and mis-understanding a risk the Venture Team Leader can afford to take? Or is there a proven, scientific way of avoiding each of these pitfalls and allowing the entrepreneur to shepherd the team to successful achievement of its goals? Carol Dysart, behavioural style expert and UNITEC guest lecturer, says YES! and will demonstrate how leading-edge technology and on-line systems can help New Zealand Venture Leaders meet their goals and create a win/win work environment at the same time.
Carol will demonstrate how a correct understanding and application of the tools will do more than make the Road of Trials - which every Entrepreneur daily rides - less bumpy and treacherous. It can literally create a superhighway advantage upon which the people-smart manager can cruise… at top speed!
Within her presentation, Carol will demonstrate: ·Computer-assisted profiling and analysis of relationships between team players. ·How to identify leaders and emerging leaders. ·How to anticipate the interpersonal challenges members and their team leader might face without these processes and team building training in place. ·How these computer-assisted tools can be used in both learning and working teams - at home, at work, and in student projects. ·Risks and benefits of Individual and Team Analysis profiling with and without professional coaching.
Carol will show how to use High Tech to get High Touch - anywhere people are involved. The uses include: hiring the right people into the right roles, orienting new employees to their roles and their teams, uniquely managing and motivating of each different personality style, holding empowering employee performance reviews, and developing better teams and team leadership skills.
She will hold a "real time" consultation with this year's MBIE class, showing how they can use the information in their profiles to deepen their knowledge of their talents and temperaments - and develop their 'learning agendas' to further develop those talents into strengths as well as to anticipate potential clashes in styles between team members.
Carol and Dr. Peter Mellalieu will demonstrate, with 20-20 hindsight vision, how the use of these scientific Team Analysis tools might have anticipated the challenges that occurred in the past. They will show how future use of these tools can make 20/20 forward vision possible.
Carol will also discuss how to prevent and/or minimize - the negative impact that breakdowns can have in any team or Enterprise where people are unaware of the potential weaknesses their strengths can cause and when to call for help.
She will introduce a new Mentoring, Coaching and Assessment Service concept she envisions for UNITEC students, faculty, and the neighbouring community businesses, and explain how it can be accessed on line.
Much of the technical back-up material for the profiling distinctions are contained in Carol's latest books 'Understanding Style" and "Money Making Systems: For People Who Work with People" with DC Cordova- both available at the UNITEC library and soon to be offered through the special UNITEC Entrepreneur On-Line site. At www.entrepreneur.ac.nz
Carol Dysart is a graduate of UCLA with a Masters in Counselling from San Diego State University. A visiting guest lecturer at both universities she is also the DISC Master Coach at the USA-based Excellerated Business School for Entrepreneurs as well as tutor in the Capabilities for Innovators course at UNITEC's MBIE.
Carol especially enjoys her 1:1 work with UNITEC's students and faculty teams - helping them understand the strengths they bring to their teams and how to maximize or develop those in their current or future careers.
This seminar is a free, public event, and forms part of the teaching programme for UNITEC's Master of Business Innovation & Entrepreneurship (MBIE). All are welcome! Please RSVP to Jenny Wallace, Tel: 815-4321 x8446
