- Consumers’ Institute and Trade Me Announce Partnership

- Trademe.co.nz and the Consumers Institute of New Zealand today announced a partnership to provide buying guides
through the Trade Me auction website. The partnership provides Trade Me’s 200,000 customers with free access to dozens
of Consumer Online buying guides – from digital cameras to kettles.

- “Consumer Online is very well regarded and has great content telling ‘Joe Buyer’ what to watch out for when
buying a wide range of consumer goods. We are very excited about making this content readily available to our
customers,” said Trade Me founder, Sam Morgan. Mr Morgan, says the partnership will allow Trade Me customers to
learn more about their purchases and get them asking the right questions of sellers.

- “Our customers will make better buying decisions and have a better experience using Trade Me because of the
Consumer Online content.”

- Consumers’ Institute chief executive David Russell says he is pleased that this content will be available
through Trade Me, to help New Zealanders make better buying decisions - for example, which product features are
important and what some of the jargon means.

- “Online auctions have proven very popular both in New Zealand and overseas. We’re keen to provide people with
the information they need to make informed choices,” said Mr Russell.

- Consumers can read the buying guides throughout Trade Me. Test results of specific products and more extensive
advice is available with a membership to the Consumer Online website.

- Trade Me is New Zealand’s largest e-commerce website with over 200,000 registered customers. Trade Me customers
ran over 500,000 auctions in April.
