Christchurch Casino’s Grand Café bans smoking
Christchurch Casino’s largest dining facility, The Grand Café, will be smoke-free from the beginning of next month.
Christchurch Casino Food and Beverage Manager, Bob Blair, says the decision to ban smoking in the Grand Café is a result of customer feedback and an increased demand for smoke-free dining.
“The Grand Cafe is the busiest restaurant in the city and should top 20,000 diners per month during our winter promotions this year. The last few years have seen a change in the tolerance shown by non smokers, and we think we need to reflect the feelings of the majority of our diners," says Mr. Blair.
Smoking will however, still be permitted in several other areas in Christchurch Casino, including some gaming areas, the bars and the casino’s informal dining area, Café Caesars.
Mr. Blair says, “While we recognise the customer demand for non-smoking in a
formal dining environment, we believe there is still plenty of support for smoking areas in our bars".
