Industry New Zealand Assists Businesses Achieve Growth Through Greater Eco-Efficiency
Ten companies have signed up for a programme that will help them gain the internationally recognised Enviro-Mark
NZ™certification for eco-efficiency, in an effort to become more internationally competitive.
The programme is being funded through Industry New Zealand’s business growth service and co-ordinated by The Warehouse
Ltd.
The companies are Aerosol Products Ltd, Ancab Ltd, Daltons Ltd, MCP New Zealand Ltd, Mollers Textiles Ltd, Perroplas One
Ltd, PMP Print Ltd, Product Distributors Ltd, Storex Industries Ltd, and Vita New Zealand Ltd. The ten companies have a
diverse base of customers including the Warehouse Ltd.
Each company is to receive approximately $6000 towards the cost of undertaking the Enviro-Mark NZ™ certification
programme which will be matched with their own dollar for dollar contribution.
Crown Research Institute Landcare Research approached The Warehouse Ltd last year and asked the company to support its
Enviro-Mark NZ™ eco-efficiency and environmental management programme in a bid to gain greater support and buy-in from
businesses.
Enviro-Mark NZ™ was developed in the UK as an Internet-based step by step process for improving the management of
environmental, health and safety performance, to be used not only by individual businesses, large and small, but also by
companies in their supply chains. Landcare Research has adapted Enviro-Mark for New Zealand conditions, and both markets
and supports the system in New Zealand.
The Warehouse acted as the umbrella organisation for the grant application to Industry New Zealand and invited its
suppliers to become involved in the programme. A final list of beneficiaries of the Industry New Zealand funding was
confirmed last week.
Industry New Zealand senior business development advisor Richard White says the value of the assistance per company is
small compared with the longer term benefits.
“Industry New Zealand’s business growth programme offers an integrated package of specialist expertise, information and
funding assistance for businesses and groups of businesses to improve their skills and accelerate their growth.
“The advantage of this approach is that a group of companies will be going through the programme together with a package
of support put together by Landcare Research. It is a good example of how companies can co-operate to accrue benefits to
all as the users of Enviro-Mark NZ™ expect longer-term benefits as a result of increased eco- and cost-efficiency. “
