Caanz Announces Media Personality Of The Year
One of the identities of the media and communications industry, Canwest New Zealand CEO, Brent Impey, was named Media Personality of the Year at the CAANZ Media Awards in Auckland last night.
The Media Personality of the Year is voted by the CAANZ Media Committee each year and is given as a mark of respect, thanks and admiration for outstanding work and achievement in the context of the media business,
A lawyer by training, Brent Impey has had a long and successful career in New Zealand media. His current role includes responsibility for all of CanWest’s television and radio interests in New Zealand – TV3 and TV4, RadioWorks and the MORE FM Group.
Prior to his appointment to the Canwest role, Impey was CEO of RadioWorks and Executive Director of the Radio Broadcasters Association. He was a long-serving Board Member of the Advertising Standards Authority and was Chairman for two years.
"This is not an award you can enter - it is an award that is earned”, commented Media Committee Chairman and Media Director for Colenso BBDO, Peter Myles.
“Brent always speaks his mind and cuts through the crap. He has a passion for the media business and it is his leadership and vision that has steered a turn around in Canwest’s performance. Most importantly he is connected and accessible and still gets out on the street presenting his companies research and credentials to the media. Not bad for a CEO!” Myles added.
