Wellington Agency Scoops Top Ad Award
Wellington advertising agency, Clemenger BBDO, scooped the top award for the second year in a row at one of the premier events on the New Zealand advertising calendar.
The awards are run by The Communication Agencies Association (CAANZ), to reward excellence in media planning and strategy for advertising campaigns.
Clemenger's campaign for the LTSA was named Best in Show in the ceremony in Auckland on Tuesday night for the annual CAANZ Media Awards.
The agency arranged for Vodafone to replace the location message in well known drinking areas such as the Viaduct Quay in Auckland and Courtenay Place in Wellington, with a brief text message asking RUOK2DRIV? The message appeared during the peak at risk times of 8pm to 6am over the weekend.
CAANZ executive director Lynne Clifton says this year's winners showed ingenuity and imagination in creating new ways of using media for advertisers to reach consumers.
The RUOK2DRIV? campaign was a brilliantly simple and effective idea, which succeeded in getting closer to the target audience than ever before - into the places they drink, at the time they drink.
Besides winning the Best in Show award, the LTSA campaign was named Best Smart Media Idea.
Clemenger BBDO was also the agency with the most winning campaigns with 2 winners and 4 merit awards. Saatchi & Saatchi, DDB and spark all garnered 4 awards each.
