Motorists Should Take Advantage While They Can
With the price of petrol dropping for the third time in the past week, motorists need to take advantage now, and not
wait to fill up their tank, thinking it might decrease even further, said George Fairbairn, of the NZ Automobile
Association.
Against all predictions and earlier comments that prices would rise when a conflict started, we now have the situation
that the pump price is back to what it was in January.
Certainly the calls from a number of parties that as the price rose, they had no option but to increase their overall
costs because of the increased cost of fuel, must now show that they can just as rapidly remove any increase which they
may have imposed during the past month.
The oil companies have kept to their resolve to reflect the shift in world oil prices at the pump for both increases and
decreases. They can be assured that motorists will be closely monitoring changes over coming weeks, said Mr Fairbairn to
ensure that any “cushioning effect” that may have been apparent, is no longer applicable.
