Singapore Airlines focuses on minimizing disruption to passengers
Singapore Airlines is now concentrating on minimising disruption to passengers following an incident this afternoon
where flight SQ286 returned to Auckland.
The aircraft, a Boeing 747-400, carrying 368 passengers and 20 crew, bound for Singapore, departed Auckland at 3.28pm
this afternoon.
The aircraft landed safely at Auckland International Airport at 3.52pm. No passengers or crew were injured.
All passengers were disembarked from the aircraft and have now been accommodated in hotels for the night.
Singapore Airlines said a B747-400 aircraft is being flown out to Auckland and was due to arrive tomorrow morning.
Passengers are scheduled to fly out on the new flight to Singapore tomorrow at 10.00am.
Singapore Airlines said the aircraft involved in today’s incident was nine years old and underwent a comprehensive
maintenance check last month.
A full review of the incident would be undertaken and Singapore Airlines said it will cooperate fully with the Civil
Aviation Authority of New Zealand in the investigation of this incident.
