Chris Liddell promoted to Chief Financial Officer at International Paper
International Paper (IP) today announced that former Carter Holt Harvey CEO Chris Liddell has been promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO). Chris will report directly to IP Chairman and CEO John Dillon, serving as a member of the senior lead team.
International Paper is approximately ten times the size of Carter Holt Harvey and one of the largest investors in the New Zealand economy. Speaking from Connecticut, Chris said he is proud as a New Zealander to have been invited to join the senior team of the world’s leading forest products company.
“Forest products is a critical part of New Zealand’s growth in the future, in particular given that we desire to get back into the top half of the OECD. I’m glad that I can continue to make a contribution to both the industry and the country in my new role.”
Chris will remain a Director of the Carter Holt Harvey Board.
Peter Springford, Carter Holt Harvey’s current CEO, said New Zealanders often don’t appreciate just how good they are.
“As a small country, we know we not only have to succeed at home but also off-shore. New Zealanders are characterised by a combination of strong leadership skills, ingenuity and a determination to succeed. It’s no surprise to us that Chris has been promoted and we congratulate him and wish him well.”
Chris was with Carter Holt Harvey for eight years as Chief Financial Officer and CEO. He left to join IP in December last year and will remain located at their Stamford, Conn., office.
