Auckland moves up in worldwide best lifestyle rankings
Auckland has again been voted one of the best cities in the world to live in, according to global company Mercer Human Resource Consulting.
Tourism Auckland has welcomed the news that Auckland ranked fifth-equal - alongside Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Bern and Sydney - in the annual quality-of-life survey of 215 cities.
Last year, Auckland ranked sixth-equal. Rankings are based on 39 criteria including political, social, economic and environmental factors; personal safety and health; education; transport and other public services. The world's top lifestyle city was Zurich, while the world's least enticing city remained Brazzaville in Congo.
Tourism Auckland Chief Executive Graeme Osborne says the survey results confirm Auckland's attractiveness as a place to live and visit.
"Our marketing, both domestically and internationally, highlights that Auckland is a modern, vibrant city with a rich culture and heritage, yet with spectacular natural experiences on our doorstep," he says.
