Terralink International launches unique CD-Rom mapping product
Plan a holiday, create a holiday map, measure and draw your route for each day and even add little text reminders of
spots you want to visit. And this is all before you've even packed your bags. Once home again, you attach your family
photos to the map, each highlighting those great spots, then email the maps and images to friends and family.
"This is what our latest map product, Terramap Digital, allows the user to do," says Alistair Pearce, Cartographic
Manager of Terralink International. "It is interactive mapping on CD-Rom. Terramap Digital is unique in the New Zealand
market as it enables users to customise their own map."
The software lets users draw on the maps, attach files, photos and images and add text. They can also search for
streets, locations and their own custom-added features, complete measurements, and mark routes from point A to point B.
Covering four separate regions - Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown/Dunedin - the CD-Roms each contain
digitised street and topographical maps at various scales, and a coverage map of New Zealand.
"Terramap Digital's map-viewer software was specially built by Terralink International's own GIS software developers,"
says Mr Pearce. "By developing the product ourselves, we have been able to keep control of the functionality and build
in features that people want. It is a market-driven product offering."
Mr Pearce says that Terramap Digital is the latest in a series of mapping products being launched by Terralink
International as the company once again becomes a map publisher. "We have recently produced and launched a series of
Recreational Maps. We will be expanding this range and developing more CD mapping products over the next twelve months."
Terramap Digital is being sold through an exclusive arrangement with certain map shop retailers and the Automobile
Association. Along with the Recreational Maps, it can also be purchased from Terralink International's websites.
