Fuel prices rise
Rising world oil prices have forced BP to lift its prices today by three cents a litre at its company-owned service stations.
It is the first price increase for three months and follows a spate of rapid price drops which shaved six cents off the price of fuel.
Prices at BP owned service stations will move with immediate effect to $102.9 per litre for Unleaded 91 petrol and $107.9 for Unleaded Premium. The price of diesel also rises three cents to 64.9 cents.
Regions that benefited most from discount pricing in recent months would see larger pump price increases than others.
At midnight tonight BP will lift its wholesale prices by three cents to independently-owned BP service stations. (By law, privately owned service stations must set their own pump prices).
Mr Griffiths said he was not sure if this trend of higher world oil prices would continue up to Christmas.
“The best I can say is it is a hugely volatile market out there and anything can happen.”
