New Zealand Company Leading World in Broadcast SMS Marketing
Finding new ways for broadcasters to connect with their audiences through text messages has proved a success story for a local wireless application developer, The Hyperfactory.
The Hyperfactory is developing new applications for radio in what it believes is the most advanced use of short message service (SMS) broadcast marketing in the world today.
The Hyperfactory's Director Geoffrey Handley says it has partnered with The Radio Network to deliver a range of SMS campaigns for its radio stations.
"We are using our locally developed SMS marketing software tools to create new ways for broadcasters to connect with their audiences," Handley says.
Christian Boston, Operations Manager for ZM at The Radio Network, says they have been seeking new ways to build loyalty and respond to listeners via text.
"Club ZM is a great example of how well the mediums of radio and SMS can dovetail to create greater listener participation and interpersonal ownership perception.
"Unbelievably we already have more than 45,000 members signed up for the Club ZM experience which entitles them to send text messages to DJs, enter competitions, request song information, take part in polls - all in real time.
"We have received more than 400,000 messages since the platform went live.
"One of the most common things people call in for, is to get the name of a song. Now you just text the word "Song" to 9696, and we text you back with the name and artist of the song playing on air" Boston says.
"All responses to 9696 (ZMZM) are personalised and automation allows us interaction with all Club Members. ZM listeners have been texting us in the thousands on a daily basis for ages, so now we can reply, collect information and are really communicating with them.
