New Fonterra Chief Operating Officer appointed
Mr Jay Waldvogel has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of Fonterra, to head the operating unit currently called
NZMP.
Last month it was announced that NZMP would change from a stand-alone unit to become the heart of Fonterra’s operations,
with a view to reducing duplication and creating an integrated structure to support the company’s vision “to lead in
dairy”.
Chief Executive Mr Craig Norgate said that Mr Waldvogel’s international experience and knowledge of the global dairy
industry made him a world-class candidate for the position.
“It is fortunate that we had the depth and breadth of talent within the company to fill this position internally,” he
said. “Any one who has worked with Jay will understand that he is particularly well versed in our business and in our
industry.
“For us to deliver the merger benefits to our farmer shareholders by meeting the high performance targets outlined in
The Fonterra Strategy, we must unlock the potential inherent in an integrated structure, “ Mr Norgate said. “But it is
not just a question of the right organizational structure. Fundamental to our objective to lead in dairy, is having the
right people leading our company.”
Mr Waldvogel was previously Director Global Network of NZMP, responsible for the company’s global sales and marketing
infrastructure. He originally joined the company in 2000 as Global Marketing Director.
Born and educated in the United States, Mr Waldvogel has held a number of senior positions in finance, operations,
marketing and general management in the dairy industry in the United States and Europe.
