Local Government Applauds Telecom’s
Change of Heart
For immediate release on Friday 22 November 2002
Local Government New Zealand President Basil Morrison, today welcomed Telecom’s change of heart.
“It is pleasing to see this change and rural communities will welcome these more reasonable charges,” said Mr Morrison.
Mr Morrison also praised the efforts of Ministers Swain, Anderton and Sutton to help bring about this change of heart.
“Mayors across rural New Zealand expressed deep concern about Telecom’s intended charges, the Government has faithfully conveyed those concerns to Telecom and we are pleased with the outcome,” he said.
