NZBCSD welcomes ICANZ Report on Sustainable Development Reporting
The New Zealand Business Council for Sustainable Development (NZBCSD) today welcomed the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand (ICANZ) report setting out how ICANZ can contribute to advancing the concept.
NZBCSD spokesman, Dr Rodger Spiller, who presented to the ICANZ Taskforce, said he was pleased ICANZ had recognised the momentum behind sustainable development reporting. Many of the NZBCSD’s member companies, have produced Sustainable Development Reports and it is a condition of membership to report within three years of joining the Council.
“The ICANZ decision to review reporting and auditing standards and guidelines and to develop two research bulletins for sustainable development reporting will advance this field in New Zealand and assist NZBCSD businesses and others with their reporting”, said Spiller.
“The ICANZ work supports that of the NZBCSD which recently issued a comprehensive Business Guide to Sustainable Development Reporting. This presents the why and how of Sustainable Development Reporting and includes seven case studies of NZBCSD businesses - The Warehouse, Sanford, Hubbard Foods, Urgent Couriers, Interface Agencies, Watercare Services and City Care Ltd. The guide is available from http://www.nzbcsd.org.nz”.
