Navman creates new subsidiary
Navman NZ Ltd announces the debut of a new subsidiary in New Zealand, Navman Wireless NZ Ltd, which will run the country’s first real-time fleet management service, using the GPRS network.
The New Zealand launch of Navman’s Fleet Manager Service follows the successful rollout of the company’s real-time fleet management solution in the UK late last year and pre-commercial trials now concluded in Europe.
Jamie Macdonald, executive vice president of Navman’s Land Navigation division, says Navman Wireless marries GPS technology, which has been the foundation of Navman’s growth, with Vodafone’s ‘always-connected’ GPRS network to provide an easy to deploy, cost effective yet highly sophisticated fleet management tool.
“The resulting Fleet Manager Services provide an end to end ready to use solution enabling companies of all sizes and types to improve the management of their daily fleet operations immediately,” he says.
New Zealand-based Navman developed both the hardware and software for Fleet Manager.
Mr Macdonald says the result makes fleet management affordable for New Zealand businesses, with the link with the GPRS network providing significant benefits in real-time productivity and cost savings for local service, transportation, contracting and commercial companies of all sizes.
