Rotorua Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Survey 2002
The Rotorua 2002 Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Surveys conducted by Research International was released today at noon.
This is the first survey round that has used the latest 2001 Department of Statistics Census Data, which indicates that there are approximately 43,900 people aged over 10 years in the Rotorua survey area used for the Radio Audience Measurement Survey. Of these 43,900 people, 89.6% of them listen to a commercial radio station at some time during the week.
The survey, conducted over 6 weeks and sampling 905 people aged 10 years and over has found that 99.9 The Edge continues to have the most listeners each week, with 12,100 different people tuning in each week. Classic Hits 97.5FM retains second place with 9,900 different listeners each week, followed by Mai FM 96.7 who move up to third place with 9,600 listeners. Lakes 96FM moves to fourth place with 9,600 listeners, and The Rock 92.7FM retains fifth place with 7,300 different listeners each week.
The commercial radio station with the highest market share in the Rotorua area is now Mai FM 96.7 with a 15.1% share of the market. 99.9 The Edge moves to second place with a 14.2% share of commercial radio listening in Rotorua, followed by Classic Hits 97.5FM moving to third place with a 12.2% share. Lakes 96FM moves to fourth place with an 11.1% share and Radio Pacific moves up to fifth in the market with an 8.0% share of commercial radio listening in Rotorua.
Breakfast results show Classic Hits 97.5FM gaining highest share, moving up to a 14.4% share of the commercial radio breakfast market, closely followed by Lakes 96FM who move to second place at breakfast with a 14.2% share. 99.9 The Edge move to third place with a 13.2% share, followed by Radio Pacific moving up to fourth place this round with a 10.9% share of the breakfast market. Mai FM 96.7 moves up to fifth placing at breakfast with a 9.5% share of the commercial radio breakfast market.
The margin of error on these results is ± 3.3%
