Hawkes Bay Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Survey 2002
The Hawkes Bay 2002 Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Surveys conducted by Research International was released today at noon.
This is the first survey round that has used the latest 2001 Department of Statistics Census Data, which indicates that there are approximately 102,500 people aged over 10 years in the Hawkes Bay survey area used for the Radio Audience Measurement Survey. Of these 102,500 people, 86.5% of them listen to a commercial radio station at some time during the week.
The survey, conducted over 6 weeks and sampling 1,233 people aged 10 years and over has found that 98.3The Edge continues to have the most listeners each week, with 30,200 different people tuning in each week. Classic Hits 89.5FM retains second place with 20,200 different listeners each week, followed by The Rock 95.1FM who move up to third place with 16,400 listeners. Newstalk ZB moves fourth place with 15,700 listeners and Hot 93 moves to fifth place with 16,400 different listeners each week.
The commercial radio station with the highest market share in the Hawkes Bay area continues to be 98.3 The Edge with a 17.8% share of the market. Newstalk ZB retains second place with a 12.9% share of commercial radio listening in the Hawkes Bay, followed by Classic Hits 89.5FM moving up to third place with a 11.4% share. The Rock 95.1FM moves to fourth place with a 10.5% share and Hot 93 moves to fifth in the market with an 8.5% share of commercial radio listening in the Hawkes Bay.
Breakfast results show Newstalk ZB gaining highest share, with a 17.6% share of the commercial radio breakfast market. 98.3 The Edge moves to second placing at breakfast with a 14.1% share, followed by Classic Hits moving up to third place with a 12.3% share. Hot 93 moves to fourth placing this round with an 11.4% share of the breakfast market. The Rock 95.1FM retains its fifth placing at breakfast with a 9.5% share of the commercial radio breakfast market.
The margin of error on these results is ± 2.8%
