Hsbc To Offer Co-Branded Corporate Card
HSBC and American Express today announced the launch of a co-branded corporate charge card to meet the travel and
purchasing needs of HSBC customers.
The card enables HSBC to offer a stronger suite of corporate banking products to current and prospective clients, and
allows American Express to extend their reach in the New Zealand market. HSBC and American Express have a similar
corporate card agreement in Australia.
HSBC chief executive, Simon Edwards said one of the key factors in the new relationship was the global recognition,
support and security offered by both organizations.
The card will operate with the same terms and conditions as American Express Corporate Cards and Cardmembers will be
eligible to join the American Express Membership Rewards program.
Under the new co-branding agreement, American Express will be responsible for all card servicing, membership enquiries
and reporting.
American Express New Zealand Country Manager, Atul Mathur said, “The partnership brings together the strength of two
global brands.
“Our brand benefits from being introduced to HSBC?s premium commercial client base, while that client base benefits by
being introduced to a Corporate Card platform that leads the market.
“The American Express brand offers global recognition and respect, while our closed-loop Corporate Card network offers
superior data capture capabilities and data integrity.
“In business, where information is paramount, the Corporate Card platform is a smart management tool that provides
information crucial for planning and compliance as well as for leveraging suppliers.”
Mr Mathur said the brand partnership was mutually beneficial and has led to a product offer that should be very
compelling for HSBC clients.
