Problem Gambling Foundation staff call for more transparency
PSA members working in the Problem Gambling Foundation have previously expressed concerns about the lack of transparency
in the financial processes of the organisation and are now calling for a wider external review of the Foundation, with
the involvement of staff, PSA spokesperson John Shennan said today.
“Our members have had concerns for some time and believe the PGF Board made the appropriate decision to stand down the
PGF Director while an investigation into credit card spending is carried out. While they are hopeful that the current
review will lead in the future, at the least, to the implementation of rigorous and robust checks and balances
surrounding the allocation and spending of Foundation funds, they would also like to see a wider independent review
which is not limited to spending and financial practices.
John Shennan also said PSA members were of the view that if the current audit taking place found that the PGF Board
should take more responsibility for what may turn out to be inappropriate spending, then the Board should heed that.
“The results of the audit are expected in about a week and a half. In the meantime our members want to continue to
provide a quality service to people with gambling problems.”
