TVNZ Head of News and Current Affairs, Heaton Dyer, today announced that Stephen Rowe will be joining TVNZ as the Wellington Bureau Editor.
Mr Rowe comes to TVNZ after nearly seven years in a number of senior positions with Reuters Television in London. In addition to this post, he has also worked for Reuters in Tokyo, Sky Television in Britain, as well as the Ten Network and the Sydney Morning Herald in Australia.
Prior to working overseas, Mr Rowe also worked as Senior Press Secretary to former Prime Minister, Jim Bolger.
Mr Dyer welcomed Mr Rowe to TVNZ saying he was confident that Steve would bring strong leadership and a breadth of experience to the Wellington Bureau and the wider TVNZ News and Current Affairs team.
"During his most recent stint with Reuters, Steve was Output Editor, responsible for the daily output of all Reuters international news feeds. He has an outstanding overseas track record including covering the end of the war in Bosnia, the hunt for Pol Pot in Cambodia and the British handover of Hong Kong. He was also in charge of Reuters' field coverage of the Nato bombing of Kosovo and has worked extensively in Northern Ireland."
