Carter Holt Harvey welcomes Employment Court decision
Brice Landman, Chief Executive of Carter Holt Harvey Kinleith, has welcomed the Employment Court’s decision on the proposed restructuring at Kinleith.
In the court’s summary of the Judge Colgan’s ruling it was noted that Carter Holt Harvey had not dealt with the employees or unions in bad faith in bargaining.
The summary noted however that the company had not met some elements of its obligations to consult in good faith. The judge has outlined a definitive consultation process going forward over the next six weeks.
Mr Landman said “Whilst Carter Holt Harvey disagrees with some aspects of the ruling, given our significant efforts to follow the principles of the new law, we welcome the clarity of the process outlined.”
“I’m pleased that rather than time spent in court, we can now engage meaningfully with our workforce on these important issues. We trust their union representatives will also move ahead positively.”
